!!Last names & last name origin:
Last name, surname, family name – any way you call it, everybody love their last name and would like to know more and more about. Most of the genealogy experts say last names were not related to families when they originated. Earlier days people used to have only one name, but to distinguish popular people the second name was added to it and it became surname. Between 10 to 15 centuries keeping surname is widely in use. The evolution of government rules, procedures mandated to carry the given surname to the next generations for administrative purposes, finally surname became family name.
Chienese are the first people to start using last names, however surprisingly they have approximately 1500 surnames only and most common were less than 60.
